Weekends..........

This weekend has just flown by ! Did some spring cleaning (my closets !) - I have so many clothes - you know - I think I'll keep this, maybe I'll fit into it next year -- yeah, right ! Well, I've been doing that for several years now and have run out of space to store all those clothes so I decided it was time to clean out !! And, I did make some progress but still have more storage bins to go through......too much like work !!

Saturday was spent at the RemARKable Stampers Quarterly meeting. I really enjoy Janet Wakeland's get togethers - She's such a nice person and I am very fortunate that she allows outside demonstrators to attend her functions. This quarter, Kimberly VanDiepan was the guest speaker. Kimberly is one of the top demonstrators in the company and is such a hoot - we all enjoyed her presentation. Here are pictures of several of the Make-n-Takes for the day:

I love making paper flowers - this is made using the accordion technique. I would never have thought to put these colors together but doesn't it look nice ?

This is another make-n-take. I LOVE this color combination. Pink and
grey are rather classy together. They are all beautiful cards !

It was a fun day, spent with lots of other ladies who enjoy their Stampin' Up! businesses as much as I do !

Stay tuned - I'll post more pictures from the Stamp-n-Share tables. Hope everyone has enjoyed this beautiful weather -- I sure have !! Happy Stampin' !

Stamp~n~Share

We had our monthly Stamp~n~Share tonight. It's always fun to get together with other stamping friends to share ideas. We discussed the Get Connected special offered by SU during April. (drop me an email for details on how you can get FREE stamps this month.) We had 3 make-n-takes - an adorable box made using the matchbox die from Sizzix, a cute Lamb goodie bag, using the Scallop die from Sizzix, and a quilt card using the TopNote die.

Following are some of the cards shared by fellow demonstrators, Connie and Cindy:

Aren't these tiles adorable ? Connie shared these with us. She used the Just Buzzin' By stamp set, Black Staz-on ink, and Pastel Chalks. And sealed them with a spray sealant. Too, too cute !

And this is the Easter treat that Carol made for each of us:

And, this is an Easter card that was posted on someone's blog and shared with me while I was in Las Vegas. There are so many very talented demonstrators - I'm constantly amazed by your creativity and greatly appreciate your willingness to share.

We had a fun-filled stampin' evening ! Wouldn't you like to join us next month ? Contact me to find out how !!

Local Scenery

More pictures from the weekend.....

Isn't this breath-taking ? Barb gave me the scenic tour of Boulder City and the surrounding area. It's a charming town and overlooking Lake Meade is simply gorgeous -- very different from the rolling hills of Carroll County, Maryland (which is beautiful, as well).

Here's another picture of Kris, myself, Barb, and Sherrill. We enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner at a nice little place in Boulder City. We got side-tracked running to the car - it was hilarious, we just grabbed people off the street to take pictures. What a fun, fun day !!

I checked into the hotel - Mandalay Bay - on Sunday afternoon. The Conference and Expo started Monday morning.

Cruisin' the Strip......

This is a picture of Barb and I cruisin' the Las Vegas strip on Sunday afternoon. I apologize for the quality of the picture - I guess we may have been travelin' a bit too fast ! Stay tuned - there's more to come !!

Stampin' - Las Vegas Style !

I arrived safely Friday evening, after a very long day ! But - when I turned the corner and saw my welcoming committee, it was well worth the trip ! My demonstrator friends from Las Vegas were waiting for me in front of Barb's house to make sure I didn't miss it ! Pictured here, with me, are Barb Vogt and Sherrill Graff from Boulder City (about 20 minutes from LV). I originally met them at Convention in 2006 and have stayed in touch over the years. We spent the evening laughing and catching up ! Of course, Barb's house is like walking into a stamping store - she has soooo many beautiful cards displayed and TONS of stampin' stuff everywhere -- it was GREAT !!! Saturday morning we met Sherrill at a Scrapbooking event she was hosting (that's where this picture was taken).

Here are some of the cards that were displayed at the event - I'm always looking for masculine ideas . Sherrill hires other demonstrators to make her cards so I'm not sure who to give credit to for these -- but they are perfect for a man. I'll be sharing additional cards so check back often.

Here's a picture of us having dinner on Saturday evening. We were joined by another demonstrator friend, Kris Myers. I also met Kris at Convention '06. It was so good to see her again !

Monday Night Cardmaking Class

For the past several months, I've been teaching a CardMaking Class through the Dept of Parks and Rec. I've made several new stamping friends and am enjoying this class very much.

Drop me an email or give me a call if you're interested in joining us.

The inspiration for the first card came from another demonstrator; unfortunately, I don't know who so I can't give credit to the originator -- sorry ! But, isn't it cute ?

The second card was created by Lisa Freeman. I loved the color combination and design so CASED it to use for my Monday night class. Thanks, Lisa, for sharing your wonderful creations !

Not sure where the original design came from on this one but isn't it just too cute ? The ladies LOVED it !!

This card was shared with me by one of my downline (thanks, Brenda !). Very simple but absolutely adorable.

To all you creative ladies (and gents), thanks for sharing your wonderful creations. I'm not very creative so I love, love, love to CASE !

Until next time...............Happy Stampin' !

Two Creations

Isn't this adorable ? Can't you just imagine putting a big smile on a sick friend's face when they receive this cute, cute card and a can of Campbell's soup ? I plan to do just that the next time a friend is sick ! This card was shared with me by one of my downline (thanks, Brenda). She saw it on someone's blog and just had to CASE it. And, I plan to share it with my CardMaking Class tomorrow night. Hope they will like it !

This is my first criss cross card - turned out pretty good - don't you think ? One of my stamping friends requested this design for our last CardMaking class. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be -- actually, rather easy.

Hope everyone has a Stamp Happy week !!

Happy Friday !!!

My favorite day of the week.....time to let the week catch up with me ! This has been another busy week - we did a major physical move at my day job - over 20 years of paperwork to go through and clear out -- what a mess !!

On to a happier note....STAMPIN'!

Monday night was my CardMaking class - these ladies are so much fun. I've really enjoyed this class. They are all experienced stampers so the class has focused on designed. Our last class is this coming week. And then we'll start another CardMaking Class and Technique Class in June. Watch for sign-up info in April.

Tuesday night was a night of friends, fun, and stampin' ! We had a Stamp-n-Share - I think even some of the more experienced demonstrators learned a thing or two about Glossy White paper and all the really cool things you can do with it. The Babywipe technique is my favorite so I shared a really pretty card and then everyone made it for their displays. This beautiful card was originally shared by another demonstrator (sorry - don't remember who) and I knew I had to CASE it. And, all the ladies tonight loved, loved it too !

We also spent some time playing with the BIG SHOT -- my favorite new toy !! We made a cute mini album with the Top Note die (don't have a picture - sorry !) and then played with different die, the embosslits, the texture plates --- several demonstrators ended the evening convinced that they definitely MUST have the BIG SHOT ! What about you ?

Thank You Card

Isn't this adorable ? One of my downline (Hey Brenda) made this for me. It was one of the cards for her class last weekend. I LOVE the bright colors and the scallops add a nice touch. Thanks for sharing, Brenda.

CD Folder Album

I've seen several of these and knew I just had to try to make one for myself so here's my sample. I say "sample" because after making the first one, I always see things that I want to change or do differently next time. And, yes - there will be a next time ! As a matter of fact, watch my Calendar of Events for an upcoming class !
Got lots to do today ! Hope everyone has a Stamp Happy week !!
until next time............

Some Stampin' Shares...

What a busy week.....there just aren't enough hours in the day to do everything I want to. My son, Steven, is home on leave for 10 days. I was soooo happy to see him !! And, am looking forward to spending time with him......assuming he'll stay home long enough....I'm sure girlfriend and other friends have priority.

Last week I mentioned a package I received from my buddy Tiffany. I finally loaded the pictures and wanted to share. Here's the beautiful card and framed artwork. Isn't she sweet ?

I love the 5th Avenue Floral stamp set - very elegant. (I'll try to work on taking better quality pictures). I have this hanging over my work station in my craftroom. I'll definitely be casing this idea.

Thanks again, Tiffany ! Sending big stampin' hugs your way.

This card was sent to me by my Oklahoma girlfriend - Pam -congratulating me on starting a BLOG. One of the absolute very best things about being an SU demonstrator is the friends that I've made - each one I truly cherish ! In addition to my wonderful local stamping friends, I've made friends with SU demonstrators all over the country. It's such a joy to receive handstamped items from these kind, thoughtful, and caring ladies - I treasure each one. You know I luv ya, Pam !!

Fun....Fun.....Fun...............

Pictured (all SU demonstrators):

standing: Gayle Dix, Adrian Mondy, Carol Linden, Cathy Tompkins.

Not pictured: Brenda Murphy, Paulette Manion and Cathy T's mother.

What a fun day !!! Food, friends, chocolate, and stamping - what more could you possibly want ?? This wonderful group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators spent the day making Welcome Home and Thank You cards for the Welcome Home Maryland program. This program, along with support from the USO, meets military flights arriving at BWI and provides Welcome Home packages to the men and women returning to the states from the Middle East. I volunteered many months ago to donate cards for this program but have been unable to keep up with the need. These ladies, along with a very sweet customer (hello Paulette !), offered to help. Thanks to them, I'll provide over 300 beautiful, handmade cards this week. To date, I've only been averaging 200+ a month ! Thanks, ladies - you're the best ! Wonder if we can make this a monthly stampin' event ??

Finally............

Stampin' pictures....I made this card to send to family in South Carolina following a recent death. I used Elegant Eggplant and Shimmer White cardstock; Pretty in Pink, Garden Green markers; Elegant Eggplant Classic ink; Always Artichoke Grograin ribbon; Sizzix Top Note die; Thoughts and Prayers and Sincere Salutations stamp sets. I really like the Thoughts and Prayers set - I've seen lots of beautiful cards made with it.

The following cards were made with the retired set Unfroggetable. I'm teaching a Cardmaking class through Carroll County Parks and Recreation. The class is focusing on various types of cards and fancy folds -- thought I'd share the diorama and pop-up cards we recently made. Both templates can be found on Splitcoaststampers. I orginally made the Unfroggetable pop-up card several years ago at the LateNightStampers pre-convention Stamp Camp. The Thank You card was copied and modified from a card donated by another demonstrator to the Support the Warfighter program. Enjoy.......and Happy Stampin' !

My Family

As you can tell from the photo, we are a very proud Air Force family ! This picture was taken in San Antonio, at my younger son's Basic Training graduation. Both boys are currently serving - Jamie is stationed in Oklahoma and Steven is in Kansas. My hubby and I met many years ago while we were both in the AF, stationed in Greece. Krysten doesn't plan to follow in the family footsteps - she's headed to college. We are so very proud of our kids - they have grown into loving, caring, mature, and responsible young adults. My dad always told me that raising kids is 95% luck -- Steve and I are very lucky, indeed and truly blessed !

Thursday, February 26, 2009

Well -- I received a wonderful surprise when I opened the mail today ! My crazy OCD friend, Tiffany, from Kokomo, sent me a beautiful framed work of art that she made. I immediately called her (with tears in my eyes) to thank her for being sooooo sweet and thoughtful. This RAK earned her a night of drinking at Convention, with guaranteed safety back to her room - I think I've somehow become the "babysitter" for the wine-Os at various SU events. I'm not complaining - it's actually VERY entertaining. I'll figure out how to post a picture this weekend.

Until then - happy stampin' !
